Important Reminder

A Science and Science Fiction podcast!

We spent 9.29.2018 at the giant regional fair called the Big E! Micaela grew up going and loving it, so she shared the glorious experience with Elle!

So many yummy drinks, (cinnamon and sugar rimmed pumpkin beer and frozen lemonade pictured) corndogs, roasted corn, caramel apples. Many trips to the toilet as well. Good thing we came on the busiest day in HISTORY. FR.
Elle got this sweeeeet cowgirl hat! Micaela is obsessed with lemonade. Caramel apples are one of the greatest foods in the universe. Behold pigs, a giant inflated chicken and Elle being the queen of onion rings.
2014 was another big year for The Blunt Letters. Micaela Superstar was featured as part of a collaborative art project called mail/art/book with Red Letter Day zine. Find out more below.
This past Valentines day Micaela Superstar and Elle Lectrick of The Blunt Letters spent the sweetest of evenings at a super rad exhibit at the SF Center for the Book. We went to see mail/art/book: An Exhibit co-curated by Jennie Hinchcliff and John Held, Jr. in which Micaela Superstar had some art being displayed. They also had a book made (pretty sweet!) for the exhibit and we were really excited to attend. For those who follow or stalk us you might have seen our posts leading up to the event. And despite the fact that we arrived fashionably late, we had a BLAST.
Plus! Worlds collided that evening when we discovered that a blood relative was also in attendance and is the lovely best friend of the one and only Jennie Hinchcliff of Red Letter Day zine!

Somehow in the hundreds of pieces of art Micaela was able to find her two submissions.

Our photo quality could maybe be improved but the images in the book came out great!

We were stoked to be able to go. Hopefully some of our fans made it out there too! It was a weekend long event so if you showed up or saw us there and were too intimidated to chat with us leave a comments!!
Here’s some other pieces that caught my eye.

If you want to know how to get your hand on a book or see the exhibit, here’s some extra info on us!
“The 100-page, four-color catalog designed by Maureen Forys of Happenstance Type-O-Rama shows every piece of exhibition artwork along with deep backgrounding essays by the curators on contemporary correspondence art and the history of West Coast mail art; the softcover catalog retails for $40.
MAIL / ART / BOOK runs from February 14th until April 27th at the San Francisco Center for the Book.”
I pulled this directly off the webpage for this exhibit but the website is worth a look on it’s own if you’re into printing or book binding and live in the Bay Area.

I’m working on finding a way to buy one of these FANTASTIC books online in case one of you was so inclined, so stay tuned.

from issue #11

Micaela and Elle had a lot of adventures with The Blunt Letters zine. This was a publication that predated and eventually led to the podcast you know and love today. Check out what these two were up to in 2013!
Since we had kind of a large gap between when I first made this blog and today, we thought a look back might be in order. Here are some highlights from 2013!
We attended SF Zine fest and made lots of friends, ate some snacks, and SOLD stuff.

We also met some cool people like Mel of Coffee and Donuts zine.
Micaela Superstar of Sto*Nerd Press put together a mini art fest at the Firehouse Art Collective Event Hangar in Berkeley to celebrate the release of Sto*Nerd press’ Fight Against the Heartbeat. This was their second anthology release in 2013. (It’s available on Amazon if you’re interested http://www.amazon.com/Fight-Against-Heartbeat-Anthology-Anthologies/dp/1484125037)
We also had the delicious and vegan snacks of Ms. Mollie Rose’s Baking Co. http://mollierosebakingco.wordpress.com/
We took a break for a little bit and then made our way to Alternative Press Expo in October. Our favorite Month!
That was the last event we did in 2013 but we got big things cooking for 2014!
Every week on the Blunt Letters Podcast Micaela and Elle ask each other “What are you drinking?” They each make a custom cocktail for each episode and now you can learn how!
Check out the videos below to find out what cocktails are best shared with your clones.

This month the Blunt Letters explores science and science fiction. Micaela and Elle cover the history of rotoscoping and their favorite rotoscope films. Then, have you considered the what ifs of cloning? The BL discusses clones and what to do with them.
